Winning promotion, leaving Marine and becoming a professional footballer in the United States
Nathan Koehler won promotion with Prescot Cables, spent time at Marine but now finds himself in a title challenge in his homeland in the United States.
Nathan Koehler has returned to the United States but the reminder of his successful non-league spell with Prescot Cables isn’t too far away.
One look up and he’s reminded of the cult hero status he earned at Valerie Park, home of the Bulls tucked away beside a housing estate.
The reminder: the joyous scenes after the central defender helped Steven Daley’s side beat City of Liverpool to end their hiatus from the Northern Premier League West.
That afternoon in early May 2024 was a family affair. Koehler’s family made the journey from the States to see their own and by 5pm, amidst pyro-filled air, chants of ‘USA, USA, USA’ were heard with the flag flying proudly from the stands with the jubilant Cables players and staff looking down onto the pitch.
“I’m looking at a picture right now, it’s framed in my room and it’s from the promotion playoff final, it’s me with three fans holding up an American flag,” he says.
