BREAKING: Prescot Cables staff take paycut and squad-size reduced amid financial battle
Prescot Cables have released a statement surrounding their financial difficulties as they battle to cope with the step three demands.
Prescot Cables management staff have been forced to take a paycut as the club endure financial difficulty.
In a statement, the Bulls have informed supporters that they have made the decision to reduce the size of the playing squad.
They have called for more footfall through turnstiles in a bid to combat financial outgoings.
The statement read: “Cables fans, we’re being honest with you: the step up to the Pitching In Northern Premier League has been our biggest challenge to date. To keep this club sustainable and competitive, we’ve had to make some incredibly tough calls regarding our finances. Unfortunately, we will need to reduce the size of the playing squad.
“Our management team has already stepped up, taking pay cuts to protect the club’s future.
“Now, we need you to improve our attendances. Without you in the ground we cannot sustain our current financial outgoings.
“Times are tough for everyone, and we know the price of football is rising. But every person through the turnstile makes a difference. Let’s fill the ground, get behind the lads, and show the league what Prescot is made of.
“We know that after the Christmas period, every penny counts. To thank our fans for their loyalty during a difficult time for the club, we’re making our first game of the year a big one for the community.”
Cables have an average of 563 supporters for this campaign as they sit 16th in the table with 25 points.
Steven Daley guided the Bulls to their highest league position in over two decades as they finished 10th in the table.
This season, they reached the FA Trophy second round proper for the first time in 20 years after beating Lancaster City and Guiseley before their exit to National League North side, Macclesfield.
On Tuesday, Cables announced that Ben Elliott left the club due to work and travel commitments, while in another worrying twist, goalkeeper Calvin Hare left the club after asking for a wage increase which the club couldn’t accommodate.
Warrington Rylands visit Valerie Park on January 3 with Neil Reynolds’ playoff chasers looking to make a strong start to the calendar year.
Cables can move towards the top half of the table with a win but sit just one point clear of the bottom three.
